About the event
Sukkot lasts for seven days and is also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths. It commemorates the Israelites' forty years of wandering in the desert after the exodus from Egypt. During Sukkot, temporary outdoor shelters called sukkahs, decorated with fruits and branches, and eat their meals inside them. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and celebration, marked by special prayers, festive meals, and the waving of the Four Species. A Lulav and Etrog will be made available at shul.
- Lulav: A palm frond that is one of the Four Species used during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. It is typically bound together with two other species - the hadass (myrtle) and aravah (willow) - and waved in all directions during the holiday prayers.
